All text in your design should be supplied as vector graphics adhering to the minimum line thickness as indicated in the generic design guidelines section in this website. This means you have to outline all fonts in your design
In case you struggle to supply non-roman text as vector graphics, you can contact Push International. They specialise in translation and typesetting texts in almost every language on the globe. A fixed Ball rate applies if you inform them Ball is the supplier of your can.
Ball cannot be held responsible for the legibility of any non-roman text.
European Regulation No 1169 / 2011 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 25 October 2011 on the provision of food information to consumers, informs you of European legal requirements for your packaging. Amongst others you will find that in Europe a minimum text size of 1.2 mm applies for packaging with a largest surface area of >80 cm2. Ball's smallest can size contains a largest surface area of 157 cm2.
To achieve a consistent quality of printed text on cans, Ball has introduced clear and strict guidelines. These guidelines might differ from previous, but they ensure readability of all text on your design throughout all production runs. They also allow us to run our processes efficiently whilst maintaining the quality you expect.
