A feature can be a sharp, spiky, chiselled detail in the image, such as the ones present in textured objects. Features are represented by small yellow crosses by the image analyser. Increase the quantity of these details in your image and verify that the details create a non-repeating pattern.A feature can also be the black and white shape of your object. The feature is what is recognised by the decoder app as it is programmed in. The more balanced the distribution of the features in an image is, the stronger the detection and the tracking. Good or bad local contrast is often difficult to detect with your eye. Improve the contrast of the image in general, or choose an image with details that are more “edged”. Organic shapes, round details, blurred or highly compressed images often do not provide enough richness in detail to be detected and tracked properly.

Augmented Reality - How it works

The difference between Augmented Reality and virtual reality is that in the last one the user is immersed in a synthetic world which is totally constructed. In Augmented Reality the artificial data is superimposed and integrated in the real world.

Probably the most well known example for Augmented Reality at the moment is Google Glass. This wearable computer is currently being developed by Google and has recently entered its test phase in the United States.

Augmented Reality currently uses a combination of 3 different elements:
- A smart phone
- An App able to decode AR codes
- Your design printed on a Ball can
Contrary to QR codes, there is no obvious (to the human eye) trigger and no special printing / ink technology required. Augmented Reality uses a combination of angles and curves, different textures and contrasting colours in an image to trigger the decoder APP. These trigger points are called Features
