At Ball we produce 500 ml bespoke deboss designs. In order to differentiate your deboss design you choose our registered deboss finish. This allows you to identify which elements should be debossed.
The process to create a registered deboss can, consists out of four main steps:

Production of debossed cans

During the concept phase the graphics for your design is evaluated and (if necessary) adapted to make it suitable for debossing.
The total process to create a bespoke registered deboss can takes, in average, between 27 to 34 weeks.

360° deboss

360° deboss creates a consistent structure to the entire circumference of the can. This type of debossing is more generic and the time to market is shorter as tooling to create various different structures is readily available at Rexam.

In the spotlight: Debossing

Debossing is the process that presses part of the image down into the metal wall of the can. This creates a structure on the can surface.

Debossing tooling consist of a pair of rollers which both have design elements engraved on them. The male tool (on the outside of the can) has the deboss elements of the image raised, while the female tool (inside the can) has the same elements recessed.

Debossing is achieved when the male tool presses the metal wall of the can inside creating the bespoke structure.
